CESAR Teacher Training Course Sun and Solar Eclipses

 

EST participated in the CESAR Teacher Training Course on the Sun and Solar Eclipses, held in hybrid format at ESAC from November 18-21, 2024.

CESAR (Cooperation through Education in Science and Astronomy Research) is an educational initiative of the the European Space Agency (ESA), the National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA), and the Systems Engineering for Defence of Spain (ISDEFE). Its main objective is to provide European secondary school and university students with hands-on experience in astronomical research.

Luis Bellot Rubio (IAA-CSIC), Sergio Javier González Manrique (ULL) and Christoph Kuckein (IAC) lectured in this course, describing past, present and future solar telescopes. They paid special attention to the European Solar Telescope, including its technical and scientific objectivess. In addition, the structure, optics and adaptive optics of EST were also explained.
